So, I bought the JBL Tune 750 BTNC as a headphone pair to use exclusively with my laptop when working or chilling and for travelling.

Before I say anything about my experience, I’d like to tell you all a little about myself. I am a student, designer and developer going through life and someone who loves technology and gadgets. I’m a Gen-Z guy here to offer a point of view that not everyone offers. I get excited over tech that may not be the highest or best when it comes to performance or looks, but which poses an emotional connection and catches my eye.

Enough about me… moving on.

So these Tune 750 BTNC are a budget and entry-level headphones offered by JBL. At the time of writing this review, it is available on Amazon.in for a price of Rs. 5,699. Slightly expensive when compared to the budget headphones available, but when you consider the features, it is a steal.

The headphones are available in four different colours — Black, Navy Blue, White and Red. The biggest selling point of the headphones is that at this price, they offer Active Noise Cancellation. ANC for those who aren’t familiar offers additional noise cancellation apart from the passive noise cancellation offered from the seal and fit of the ear cups. Talking about the ear cups, they are quite comfortable and soft and seem to be long lasting.

The sound is great and would be above expectations for most of the users. It offers good sound balance and with the active noise cancellation turned on, it is enough to drown the noise of anything around you.

Talking about the battery life, it offers 15 hours of wireless playtime with ANC enabled, around 20–22 hours of use without ANC and around 30 hours of playtime with ANC and a wired connection. I know it’s complicated, but long story short, you’ll get around 15–20 hours or use on average.

One of the biggest downsides in 2020 with these headphones is that they use a Micro USB port for charging and not USB-C! That is one of my pet peeves with these headphones.

All the controls are on the right ear cup and include a voice assistant/ play/ pause button, volume up and volume down, anc on/off button and a power button. The headphones also offer a feature where you can connect two bluetooth devices simultaneously and then depending on which device is playing the audio, the headphones will output the device. However, in my case this did not work as expected and caused connection drops on the second device.

DISADVANTAGES

  1. Micro USB for charging.
  2. Uses Bluetooth 4.2 and not 5.0, offers slightly low connectivity and smaller range.
  3. No interchangeable ear cups.

The final verdict is that if you want a pair of headphones with good sound, decent bass, great noise cancellation, average battery life and a price that won’t break the bank, these headphones are worth buying. They offer a good and comfortable fit for long listening sessions.
